Resource Center
The Resource Center is a self-directed job search environment. Staff is available to answer and questions or provide assistance if needed.
THE RESOURCE CENTER IS OPEN MONDAY-FRIDAY FROM 8:30AM TO 4:30PM.
Computer Access:
The Resource Center has 18 computers with access to: Internet, word processing, spreadsheet, resume writing templates, presentation software, keyboard practice and more. There is a two-hour time limit for computer usage. Additional computers are dedicated for Illinois Skills Match use. The computers must be used for employment related work only.
Fax Machines:
FREE use of FAX machines to send resumes and cover letters to the Chicago metro area.
Copy Machine:
A copy machine is available for customers. The cost is $.10 per page.
Research Library:
Labor Market information, job search information, resume books, college/trade school directories, current articles on top interview questions, top job related website sheet, top recruiter pet peeves and more job related articles.
Job Listings:
Through the online Illinois Skills Match (ISM) computers, Internet access to thousands of computerized job listings, The Job Posting Board from local employers through the BEST team job listings, Job listings in Northern Illinois through the collegiate network site, seasonal on site employers interviewing and much more.
Assistive Technology Equipment:
State of the art equipment for people with hearing, physical, and visual disabilities to use during their job search. Such software/hardware include: Height adjustable table, ZoomTex software, Trackball mouse, large print keyboard labels, adjustable keyboard tray, scanning, Openbook for optical character recognition/computer-synthesized speech to read printed materials out loud, headphones, JAWS, and Braille equipment.
Partner Resource Information:
The Agency Referral Network (ARN) is a One-Stop agency referral for budget counseling, food stamps, kid care, college level career preparation courses, tuition assistance for training, Vet services, and much more.
Job Retraining and Educational Programs:
Talk with a screener immediately to find out if you qualify for educational retraining funds to attend school and get back into the workforce. Also, sign up for the next orientation about the program.
Community Information:
Area job related information, job clubs, networking groups, short-term training, short-term housing, township information.
